Deerfeathers

                     Handbags

These bags are made using the same materials as the small medicine bags and the drum bags. Instead of being worn around the neck, these are designed with straps long enough to wear over the shoulder.

Some are available as pictured, all others can be copied, but will not be identical since each hide is different. I will do my best to duplicate as closely as possible. My available stock changes so check back often to see what's new.

Please note that these bags are not lined and are not designed to carry heavy loads as the deerskin will stretch.

My bags are featured in a small Puebloan owned and run shop on the Plaza in Taos, New Mexico. Dean Little Lake View Johnson is a pipemaker and hand crafts peacepipes of red pipestone as well as other stones and cedar. He lives on the Taos Pueblo and is adamant about showcasing the work of other Pueblo craftspeople. His pipes are wonderful, his shop eclectic and he, himself a delight to visit. If you are in Taos, stop by Smoke Signals at 121 N Plaza. If  you can't visit personally, visit his web site at www.nativepeacepipes.com.
